GRWM Cosmetics Skin Mattifying Foundation Review – 9-Hour Wear Test in Non-Airconditioned Room

I have a complicated relationship with local beauty brands. I want to support them. I really do. But too many times, I have bought a hyped-up Filipino foundation only to watch it separate, oxidize, or slide off my face before lunch. So when GRWM Cosmetics released their Skin Mattifying Foundation and every beauty page on my feed started praising it, I was skeptical. Very skeptical. But after three weeks of testing – including two full workdays, one grocery run, and one unexpected jeepney ride in light rain – I am ready to share my honest thoughts. This is my long-form, no-cut-corners review of the GRWM Skin Mattifying Foundation. First Impressions and Packaging. The foundation comes in a thick glass bottle with a pump. Glass is heavy and breakable, so travel may be risky, but it feels more premium than the price suggests. The pump dispenses a controlled amount – about half a pump for light coverage, one full pump for medium, one and a half for full. Shade range: 12 shades at launch, which is decent but not revolutionary. I tested shade “Honey” which is medium with warm olive undertones. It matched my light-medium Filipino skin well, though it leans slightly yellow. First swatch on my hand felt smooth and slightly velvety. The consistency is not runny – think somewhere between a mousse and a liquid. It spreads easily with fingers, brush, or sponge. Application and Texture. I applied this foundation three different ways over the testing period. First, with a damp sponge – this gave the most natural, skin-like finish with medium coverage. Very beginner-friendly. Second, with a flat brush – more coverage but harder to blend without streaks. Not recommended unless you have advanced skills. Third, with fingers – surprisingly effective. The warmth of your fingers helps the foundation melt into skin for a seamless finish. The texture feels lightweight on the face. You know that heavy, mask-like feeling some matte foundations give? Not here. I could forget I was wearing foundation, which is rare for a mattifying product. Wear Test – Hour by Hour. Hour 0 (9:00 AM): Applied over moisturizer and sunscreen with no primer. Fresh application looks smooth, blurred, and velvety. Not flat matte – there is a soft natural dimension. Pores around my cheeks and nose appeared visibly minimized. Hour 2 (11:00 AM): No visible change. No shine breakthrough. Foundation still looks freshly applied. Color still matches my neck perfectly. Hour 4 (1:00 PM): Minimal shine on my T-zone. Not grease – more like a natural glow. No settling into fine lines. No patchiness around my nose despite me rubbing it once (bad habit, I know). Hour 6 (3:00 PM): Oily skin would need blotting by now. My combination skin showed controlled shine. Foundation still intact. No cracking or separating anywhere. Color has not oxidized – still matched my neck exactly. Hour 8 (5:00 PM): Light shine across entire face but not uncomfortable. I blotted once with tissue. No foundation came off on the tissue – just oil. This is amazing performance for a local foundation. Hour 9 plus (6:30 PM): Still looked presentable. Could go to dinner without retouching. I was genuinely impressed. Mask Transfer Test. I wore a cloth face mask for 30 minutes during a jeepney ride. Transfer was minimal – about 10 to 15 percent of foundation came off on the mask interior. For comparison, most drugstore foundations leave 40 to 60 percent transfer. GRWM performed exceptionally well here. It also did not stain the mask badly – a quick wash removed everything. Who Should Buy This. Good for oily and combination skin types, long work or school days, humid outdoor commutes, people who want matte but not flat, and anyone who hates foundation transfer on masks or collars. Not good for very dry or flaky skin because it may cling to dry patches, people who prefer dewy finishes, or anyone wanting full coverage with one layer (you need two layers for full coverage). Final Verdict. After three weeks, multiple wear tests, and genuine attempts to find flaws, I can honestly say the GRWM Skin Mattifying Foundation deserves the hype. It is not perfect. The shade range could be wider. Glass packaging is risky for travel. Very dry skin should look elsewhere. But for the price of around ₱450 to ₱550, the performance rivals international foundations twice or three times the cost. Rating: 4.6 out of 5. Would I repurchase? Yes – and I already did. Would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely, as long as they have oily or combination skin. This is the kind of local product that makes me proud of the Philippine beauty industry. No gimmicks. Just solid, well-formulated makeup that actually works under our brutal sun.
